To get out of his father's shadow (and away from his Blues and Santa Cruz' constant temptation of sea, sun and sand), Gabriel Gordon moved to New York when he was nineteen. He worked at the Electric Lady Studios (of the late Jimi Hendrix, one of his idols), moonlighting in bars on the Lower East Side (playing his own songs as well as songs by Prince, Chris Whitley, Jeff Buckley, Joni Mitchell and Stevie Wonder).
Soon Gabriel came to the attention of Natalie Merchant, who hired him on as a guitarist for her tours. Now, several albums later and living in Montpellier, France, he is still absolutely and musically overwhelmed.
